Main Gamemodes
There are loads of gamemodes in Overwatch but the main ones are the ones that come up in competitive and quickplay where as the ones that cycle in and out of arcade are not main but are still fun to play. But I will just be covering the main ones which can't go away because at the moment in the arcade there is Deathmatch FFA but next month it might be something different.
Payload
One of the main modes and probably my favourite main mode is payload which if you are on the attack, you need to escort a payload from 1 point of the map over to another. You are on a time limit but everytime you hit a checkpoint, you get extra time. The defenders are trying to stop the payload by killing enemy players and keeping them of it. The defenders can also move the payload back by standing on it and both teams can increase the speed of payload by having more players on it. All heroes are good in this but if you have someone like an Orisa you might want to move to the nearest choke and defend there. There are also choke points on every map where its easier to defend, so if your on the defence set up there.
Capture Point
This is your usual capture point maps in any game. One team are trying to defend the capture points and the others are trying to capture it. There are usually 2 points on the map and the first point is the harder one to defend, so if you defend that you have a massive leg up over the opponents. Symmetra is one of the best heroes on this gamemode because her teleporter is great for the first point due to the amount you have to walk when you die. So if you see a Symmetry on the enemy defence target her before she gets the teleporter up.
King of the Hill
This is another typical fps gamemode where each team are fighting over 1 point and each team win when they get to 100 percent on the point. This is one of the longer gamemodes due to the nature of the overtime but once a team win 2 games then they win the match. So I would recommend keeping the enemy of the point completely If they don't have a dive comp and if they do let them on but contest it and try and kill them. Maybe keep someone like a Reaper near the point so if hey go on, he can kill them at close range.
Hybrid
There is also a game mode where it starts of as a capture point but when the enemy captures the point it turns into a payload map, so you might have to change your team comp when the point is captured.
