The Halo Wars 2 multiplayer aspect yo the game revolves around a rock-paper-scissors kind of thing. So there will always be a unit to counter another unit, apart from if its an uber unit. Infantry beat air, air beat vehicles, vehicles beat infantry. But there are some exceptions to the rule. For example a wolverine is designed to counter air even though it is a vehicle. So when playing the game try to learn the counters so you can outplay your opponent.
As well as this there is a resource concept to the game which allows you to train and upgrade troops. There are 2 types of resource which are resources and power. Both can be obtained by building a the appropriate buildings. As well as this on all the maps there are resources and power scattered around the map which you can collect with infantry, jackrabbits and warthogs.
To add on to the game there are more modes than just the regular one including blitz, death match, strongholds and domination. There are also sub-modes like blitz firefight and custom games.
The leader you have chosen will also determine how you play. Different leaders have different skill trees which allow different abilities, upgrades and units. My personal favourite as of now is the Shipmaster because of his teleportation abilities. This will allow for your units and allies to get into fights and get out with ease. To add on to this he also has cloaking which will make it so the enemy cant see or hit you, but you can hit them.
